This petite ceramic tipping plate is a lovely example of French decor tableware. Each piece features a pretty bluish-purple rim with a gold accent and the classic "5f" (francs) marking, giving it that old-school French charm. Expected signs of wear that come with age — a slight fade in color here or a tiny chip on the underside there, from years of use. In early 20th century Parisian cafe culture, waiters brought drinks on these saucers as a method to calculate your tab. (Documented in "A Moveable Feast" which is a memoir of Paris by Ernest Hemingway).
